In addition to touring, Tom enjoys using song and story in nature and environmental programs and holds a degree in Human Ecology. He has worked with institutions and organizations such as the Inland Seas Education Association, Friends of the Chicago River, the John G. Shedd Aquarium, schools and libraries across the country, and the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater founded by Pete Seeger. Concert and workshop topics include rivers, Earth-songs, whales and dolphins, and more. Tom can work with you to plan specific concerts and residencies.

INSTRUMENTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD
Musical instruments are a good lens through which to observe aspects cultures around the world. This program examines the process of building instruments from local resources and explores the inherent physics of making sound. Companion workshops include making musical instruments from recycled materials. Grades K and up. Sunset off South Haven, MI


INSTRUMENTS THAT TELL STORIES
All musical instruments, as well as the people who create and play them, have their own unique stories. This workshop explores the many facets of the relationship between an instrument and its maker and/or player. Grade 6 and up. Also teacher in-services and residencies.

CREATIVE WRITING: SONG AND STORY
Let's say you and your students have just studied, visited, or experienced part of the natural world. Now write about it. This program uses traditional work song and ballad forms to express, easily and naturally, what has occurred. Grades 3 and up.

VOICES FROM THE LAND (SPECIAL GROUP PRESENTATION)
A multi-media program (music, images, and readings) based on the naturalist Joel Greenberg's latest book .Of Prairie, Woods, and Water: Two Centuries of Chicago Nature Writing. published by the University of Chicago Press.

SPECIAL TOPICS
